WEEK 4: UNDERSTANDING BY DESIGN (UbD)
Instructional Design Framework
A "backwards" Instructional Design framework created by Wiggins and McTighe. As contained in the title, there are two key ideas behind UbD:
- Understanding: The focus is on teaching and assessing for understanding and learning transfer.
Design: Essentially design curriculum "backwards" by beginning with results and assessments and ending with planned learning experiences and instruction.
